What would be an Italian Culture School without an Italian Cooking School?
Italian cuisine is the result of more than 2000 years of history, it is culture by all means. It is a collection of flavors, tastes, creativity, history and traditions of all parts of Italy, it is actually "the gastronomy of Italian regions". Each one of the 20 Italian regions have their own history and peculiar products and cuisine.
In Italy food is synonymous of conviviality, of being together, drinking a glass of wine with some fine bread and cheese, it means being able to enjoy the time in good company, to embrace "la dolce vita".
In Italy food is family! It's the time when everybody gathers at the table and shares the best moments and memories in life!
Italian people know that "we are what we eat", they know the importance of nutrition for having a long and healthy life.
La Piazza Italian School wants to bring the real Italian food experience in Bergen County, the experience that only who grew up in an Italian family in Italy can bring and can make people fully understand.
Michaela Opolka Cappellari, our founder and director at La Piazza Italian School, is also a native Italian cooking instructor that has a real passion for teaching everything about Italian food, its traditions, history, and secrets. She grew up in Rome with a Sicilian grandmother and mother that introduced her to cooking since a very young age. She is a deep believer in the power of nutrition for preventing and even curing diseases. Her Sicilian grandmother died at the age of 102, an occurrence that is not that uncommon in Italy.
Michaela Opolka Cappellari is also a mother of two children and understands very well how difficult can be for mothers preparing meals that are both healthy and loved by the whole family. That's why she thought that teaching just traditional Italian cuisine was not enough (even though she is going to do that, with great pleasure, in several classes). She is on a mission to bring genuine Italian recipes that totally respect the Italian tradition but also recipes that Italian mothers prepare every day at home in Italy and don't require hours, but often just 30 minutes or less!
Most Italian mothers cook from scratch every day, that is true, but their life isn't spent all in the kitchen. They have time to enjoy their lives too, we can guarantee!
La Piazza Italian Cooking School is here to teach you the secrets that nobody ever tells! Secrets that Italian mothers pass only to daughters and grandchildren! Are you ready for cooking classes that will change your everyday life forever? We're sure you'll find the right class for you. We are going to offer many different classes during the year, so don't forget to check our website occasionally.
La Piazza Italian Cooking School can be contacted at info@lapiazzaitalianschool for private events, fundraisers, family dinners, ladies nights, birthday parties (also for kids), and private and semiprivate cooking lessons.
Our cooking classes are held at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottege Place, Ridgewood, NJ.
